Far-right Alders Raymond Lopez and Silvana Tabares are trying to push a vote on Ordinance 2023-0004222 which would weaken Chicago's Welcoming Ordinance and Sanctuary City Protections. This dangerous move will allow any agent or agency of the city, including CPD, to work with federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) if a person is arrested for even minor crimes. This move will only bolster Trump's mass deportation agenda, is dangerous for Chicago, and may be illegal under Illinois law.
