About the event

Far-right alders are trying to push legislation that will weaken Chicago's Welcoming Ordinance and Sanctuary City status by targeting undocumented immigrants and refugees. This proposed ordinance will permit the Chicago Police Department to assist with immigration enforcement and deportations if an individual has been convicted, or arrested for, certain crimes. These crimes include minor offences like loitering and possession of a controlled substance, and criminalize victims of crimes such as human trafficking.
